A Hibiscus in DC

It’s hard to think of Washington, DC as a peaceful and restful place given the continuous, often serious political machinations the city is known for, but on a warm and beautiful, sunny day in June we found a peaceful moment. Amid the intense media scrutiny of the rest of the country and indeed the eyes of the world, as preparations were being made for the funeral of a President, we strolled the grounds of the Smithsonian Institute and found the lovely Hibiscus flowers basking in what was to them just another day. For those who saw and for those who didn’t, the Hibiscus cared not.
